Downtown Renovation

A modest downtown home whose layers we explored, and very intentionally considered, in the journey to arrive at a home which met the more contemporary needs of the small family calling it home. Originally a one bedroom house with each space being cobbled together throughout time, if offered an impractical shower nook, a kitchen which was half laundry room and no storage, once we started to carefully peel back the more modern additons were found that much of the structure’s character of this special space could still be found. We carved out some floor area for a second bedroom, mindfully captured space with headroom height to offer a full shower in the washroom and tucked storage opportunities in where they presented. The result is an unassuming, calm and meaningful space.
